- If you need to pull a propeller shaft out of the outboard motor housing to work with it, you will need a special
bearing carrier puller.
- This tool is made especially to make the removal of the propeller simple.
- The bearing
carrier puller is a U-shaped tool that has two elongated spikes that fit down into the propeller shaft, attaching securely
to the propeller with a nut. Once the bearing carrier puller is correctly and securely attached to the propeller, a wrench
is used to loosen the nut sleeve and turned clockwise. This loosens the propeller, bearing carrier and reverse gear free of
the housing. It can then be lifted up using the bearing carrier puller handle.
