Help With Replacing This Part

When replacing this part, because you'll need to remove and replace the top bearing (31-61100A1) - you'll need to re-shim this part. It is recommended to purchase a new shim kit and seal kit when performing this job (these can be purchased below). Begin by removing the top bearing and gears off.

After pressing the bearing onto the new part, install a new o-ring so it sits right against the underside of the bearing. Use a sealing compound on this o-ring. You'll need an arbor press or similar tool to press the shaft into the driven gear until it seats properly into the collar section of the gear.

Turn it over, and press the other bearing onto the driven gear. Next, install the new shims under the driven gear bearing race, and also the top cap bearing.

When shimming, the torque value of this part (using a torque tool set to in-lbs) should be 2 to 6 in-lbs. If the reading is over 6, remove some shims; and if it is below 2 add shims.
