This trim sender unit for the Cobra, is compatible with 1986 - 1993 standard 3.0 - 5.7 models. Not compatible with the King Cobra, or the newer style 'cone clutch' volvo SX Cobra model.

A common issue with the system not trimming up and down can be due to a defective trim sending unit.

After you have diagnosed the issue is not related to the cylinders, or the motor, and have determined it is in fact the sending unit, this Sierra aftermarket replacement is easy to install.

Many times, on the defective sending unit you are replacing, you'll find the spring that controls the arm has broken internally leading to the need to replace the assembly.

Used trim cylinders and assemblies are available (call for availability of used stock). If you are having issues with your trim / lifting system of your outdrive, issues can be caused by a defective switch, leaking/faulty cylinders or damaged hoses.
